This is a sculpture composed entirely of found objects during a rafting/camping trip. It looked much better while it was on fire and when I retrieve those photos I’ll add them to the post. The piece was constructed of a deer spine and pelvis (which was handily picked clean by natural scavengers and then bleached by the sun), driftwood, and dry fallen branches, and was held together by rope made from aspen bark and pine fiber (the slick moist layer just under the bark of a pine tree). This was a little tribute to “Burning Man” and created a pretty cool centerpiece to kick off a fine evening of libation and celebration with a primitive and carnal tone.

Reflected Shadows is the result of a first project in Digital Art using a program other than one designed to create art. This image was created in Excel, and I left extra visible cells in the image to remind me how nice it is to use programs for the purpose for which they were designed.

Hey, I’m JJ, a student at Metropolitan State College of Denver and this site will be mirroring my progress in digital art. This little zone will become a heaving, choking, disfunctional place where I can heap whatever crap I deem web worthy. I am a beginning tattoo artist so you will see many strange fruits and animal hides with unnatural designs and colors here. I am an art major so you’ll see some pleasant and orderly projects reflecting that I had to follow some guidelines, and I’m a sick freak so eventually you just might find some things here that make you want to fling dough, toss technicolor tacos, yodel in the urinal, or blow bananas. What I’m saying is you might get the urge to regurge, hack, hurl, vomit, or puke. I’ll try to break you in slowly so that my tame works might lull you into a false sense of security. I may also drop some work from other artists whose work I appreciate on here for your enjoyment, and who knows– if I get really ambitious this may develop into a digital copy of my complete portfolio… or something close to that.
